Yikes rough week for Jake, but plenty of ball left and my team is objectively good so I have faith! We'll get into the recaps, but first I have some fun (I think it's fun) announcments!

Website Upgrade

I know what you've all been thinking. "When on earth is Jake going to pull in the player data from 2018??" Well I have exciting news, that day is today. I have recovered all the player data from 2018, so you can go to the 2018 season page and see the season that Patrick Mahomes managed to get over 500 points, but Tmo only managed 90 points in the championship game to give Austin his 2nd title. Everyone's respective owner pages have also been updated with the added player stats and All-Time Roster. I fear that player data from before 2018 may be gone-gone. But I thought the same thing about 2018 so who knows what sort of hidden treasures I'll find.

Website Upgrade 2: Electric Boogalo

Woah ANOTHER one?? In one week?? Well in the process of finding the 2018 player data, I also found a way to keep track of every STAT from every player. That time Ja'Marr Chase put up 55 points in 2021? 11 catches for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns. Got it all baby. The extent to which I turn this sweet sweet data into fun views and metrics is TBD, but for now you can all check the stats page to see the running count of all your player's performances in one fun place (I have 71 fucking fumbles dude wtf). Want to know something? Just hit up ya boy I'm happy to run the code for you.

Gut Check Approaches

We're entering Week 9, which means after this everyone will have played everyone else exactly once. That means it's time for the GUT CHECK. #1 will play #2, #3 will play #4, and so on and so on. The standings are all pretty tight, so it's hard to predict the matchups, but to clarify, the tiebreakers for seeding next week are as follows: If there's a tie between 2 people its H2H, if there's a tie between 3+ people its record vs everyone involved in the tie, if there's still a tie at that point its total points scored. Get excited, I'll set the matchups first thing next Tuesday morning.

Website Upgrade 3!!

Just kidding this time its a league admin callout. Austin, in a classic gremlin move, is trading players for draft picks, which as of last year was voted in as allowed. What I don't want, however, is the league to break into chaos with people's drafts being shot or tanking to become too prominent. So after discussion with Collin, I feel like we need to convene to discuss how best to move forward: Do we introduce a real, tangible punishment for last place? Or do we implement a trade deadline to keep teams from totally selling out in the last couple of weeks? Or do we do both? Regardless, I think we'll need some sort of control to keep the league from getting too insane with end of season moves. Something else to note, trading a future draft pick should mean that the person is locked in to participate the following season, but as of now we have no way to enforce that. Just food for thought.

My ask of you is to have an opinion and voice it, which I know is hard for most of you.

Ok let's get into it.

Recaps

Sorry yall I'm swamped this week, no by-game recaps. Hopefully the announcements and fun new website activities (and collective conflict around what the league should do moving forward) will provide you with the entertainment you so desperately crave.

Are You Better than the Georgia Bulldogs?

Holy shit the Dawg team popped off this week. Only three people (Austin, Garrett, and Nathan) actually made it out alive this week. JL is getting closer and closer to reaching .500 against a fake team without a kicker.
