And just like that, the playoffs are set. Austin, with his win over TK, is locked into the last playoff spot and the only thing left to work out is seeding. For the rest of us, we can hang our heads high. We once again have set the standard across fantasy leagues everywhere for a season-long performance of remaining active and keeping it competitive until the end. Next week Jake can try to influence the seeding against Austin, but the rest of you are only playing for stats and pride (and the last $5 weekly bonus).
The Survivor race was a tight one, but Mike finished with more points and wins the Survivor challenge. Semi-related, but Mike is currently in the 2nd spot and had only won $5 on the year up to now?? Without the Week 10 Top Score bonus, Mike would have nothing. Not sure how that happened, but now Mike only needs one playoff win to earn at least $50 (or more) so I guess he gets the last laugh there.
For us non-playoff teams, bear in mind that this is the last week you have to claim and start a player to be eligible for next year's keepers. Based on the adopted rule, eligible players must be on your team at the conclusion of this week and have started a game since being on your roster (assuming you didn't draft and retain said player all year).
Ok, enough jibber jabber, let's do this.
Playoff Hunt
Collin has secured his #1 seed (he actually did last week I just didn't realize it)
Mike, TK, and Austin are all neck-and-neck for seeding, here's how the tiebreakers currently look (the record is that player vs the other two):
- Mike (2-1) split the series with Austin and currently has 64 more points than Austin, not impossible but probably too much for Austin to overcome
- Austin (2-1) won the series 1-0 over TK
- TK (0-2) lost the first game against Mike, but they play this week. Should TK win, he will have more points than Mike and will win that tiebreaker
So basically, if TK beats Mike and all three finish with the same number of points (pending the Top 5s and Austin's game), there will be a circle of who beats who. In that case, the tiebreaker will be the team's records against the other two teams, and the standings will go 2. Austin (2-1) 3. Mike (2-2) 4. TK (1-2). This is the darkest scenario because it means either Mike or Austin will go to the ship, and no one wants that.
100 Watch
100 Wins: TK has earned his 100th Regular Season Win!
- Mike, 99. If Mike beats TK this weekend he'll tie TK at season's end for most cumulative wins in league history.
- John Luke, 98. He can't make it this year, but JL will certainly join the 100 club early next season.
99 Losses
Garrettttttt you gotta hold off just one more game buddy, save L number 100 until next year!
Recaps
Austin 128.38-120.18 TK (Game Score: 85.3)
Way to go TK, you already have your playoff spot so you just go "la di fuckin da" and let Austin run over you to box out the rest of us from having a shot. Thanks a LOT for that. I'm glad Derek Carr only got .58 points. I'm glad the Vikings got -1 points. Nick Chubb sucks (I'm kidding Chubb bb, you know I'd never say that about you). Your two 30+ outings were all you had to boast about, but even that didn't come close to handing Austin the loss we all needed him to have. I wanted to cheer for you and Collin in the playoffs, but you're making it very hard to do so, especially if you fuck around and face off with him in the first round. GET IT TOGETHER TK, WE'RE COUNTING ON YOU.
Ryan 96.38-132.88 Mike (78.6)
Mike sure wasn't trying to look like a playoff team this week. Miles Sanders (30.5) went off, but Deebo went down, Foster Moreau put up a goose egg, and Dalvin stayed very quiet, and it made Mike have to join the Top 5 fight going into MNF. Ryan fizzeled out this week, his four bye players didn't help that, but as we've discussed it wound up not mattering because Austin's win would have knocked Ryan out regardless. Mike has TK next week, a game will be very important for determining seeding, so he needs to regroup and put together a good lineup because no one wants to face Collin, who will almost certainly break 2,000 points next week and is the clear favorite going into the playoffs.
Jake 140.96-113.86 Tyler (74.5)
Too little too late, Jake had a great showing but after last week's dud it wound up not mattering. 20+ points from Ekeler, Allen, Juju, and a career day from Evan Engram (39.2) contributed to Jake having some dignity on the home stretch, but it's an empty, stats-padding victory. Tyler still had a decent game, and was part of the fight for a Top 5 going into MNF. Geno Smith has proven to be a great QB, breaking 20 for the 6th consecutive game and the 10th time this season, and Ja'Marr Chase (28.5) provided the production that Tmo missed so badly in his absence, so this was a no-fault loss. Tyler closes the season out with JL, a fellow member of the freshly-eliminated teams, while Jake will dig deep to try and fuck up Austin's last week to pit him against the juggernaut that has been Collin's team.
Collin 101.46-128.2 Nathan (70)
Ok, be honest, was this a pity game? Good for his 2nd-lowest points total of the season, Collin had the game lost by Sunday night. Now, Collin may say "if Jake hadn't said anything to Nate he wouldn't have checked and I would have won" which may be true, BUT if Austin lost I needed Nate to try and put pressure on the Top 5 race to have a chance. That didn't work out, but frankly Collin had the #1 seed locked up already so at the end of the day what difference did it make? Speaking of which, What an impressive turnaround from Nate. This man picked up and started Dicker (11), Dolphins D (4), and Purdy (25.7) and swapped out his TE and FLEX all in the span of 2 minutes before the 4:00 kickoffs. That's pretty slick operating right there.
John Luke 113.7-81.48 Garrett (54.6)
In Garrett's defense, Tee Higgins wound up not playing despite not being on the injury report, so mayybeee he could have broken 100? Really a bye week nightmare for Garrett without Kamara or Cordarrelle. JL put up enough to win, but not enough for a Top 5, so sort of a bittersweet week? He had 7 players break into double digits, but no one cracked 20 and the consistency just wasn't really enough to be impressive. Garrett has one more shot to make a mark on the season by 1. not getting his 100th loss and 2. sending Collin limping into the playoffs with a second consecutive loss (even though it won't impact his seeding). John Luke faces off against Tyler for bragging rights in their 23rd regular season meeting. Only Tyler-Jake and TK-Garrett have played that many times, and the series is tied 11-11, so winner gets the series edge!
